SCWS Class of 2024

Columbia, SC – SC Whitmore School (SCWS), an online public high school based in Columbia, is excited to announce the graduation of 188 high school students during the 2023 - 2024 school year.

Executive Director Kim Dunbar said, “We are so proud of our graduating class of 2024. We had the largest graduating class in SC Whitmore School’s history. These students are so talented and worked hard to achieve their goals. We are so grateful they chose SCWS on their educational journey and we can’t wait to see all they will accomplish in their community.”

SC Whitmore School continues to show the state of South Carolina and beyond the positive impact of online learning.

The Class of 2024 was honored at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on June 8th, 2024. They listened to presentations from the faculty and staff and heard the commencement message from the Valedictorian, Ben McConchie. The graduates officially become alumni of SCWS after Stig Rasmussen, SCWS Board Chair conferred the graduates.

Graduates collectively earned more than one million dollars in scholarships.

SCWS was excited to award 5 students with a $1,000 merit-based scholarship. These seven students are classified as Jessica Munyon Memorial Scholars. The students must earn a minimum GPA of 4.0 in SCWS courses and be enrolled in SCWS for at least one year, in addition to submitting an essay and receiving a recommendation from a teacher.

This year there were also 29 students who graduated high school either one or two years early, compared to the traditional four years of high school. Five SC Whitmore School Students earned the Palmetto Fellow Scholarships.

The 2024 SCWS Valedictorian, Ben McConchie is an honors graduate and a member of the National Beta Club. Ben graduated from SCWS with a 4.95 GPA. After graduation, Ben is planning to attend the University of Virginia.

The 2024 SCWS Salutatorian is Zoe Schwippert. Zoe is an honors graduate. She graduated from SCWS with a 4.795 GPA. 

SCWS Principal, Ebone Adams, has seen the Class of 2024 succeed as students and excel in their education. SC Whitmore Principal Eboné Adams said, “We are proud of the hard work, perseverance, and accomplishments of this graduating class. I have no doubt that they will continue to achieve greatness and make a positive impact on the world whether it be pursuing higher education, entering the workforce, or pursuing other personal goals. I am also grateful for the parents, guardians, faculty, and staff who have supported and guided our graduates in their journey to achieve such success.”
